Fire & Heritage
Praia, the markets and Cidade Velha, then the caldera at Chã das Caldeiras and the volcano that gives the island its name.
The idea
Cultural depth first, then the volcano.
Santiago carries the history: the first European colonial settlement in the tropics, the markets of Praia and Assomada, the mountain road to Serra Malagueta and the fishing bay at Tarrafal. Fogo answers with scale — a single volcano rising from the sea, with vines and coffee growing in black lava inside the caldera.
Groups and individuals, suitable for walkers who want one demanding day without the trip being built around it.
