About Atlas & Aura
Travel slowly. Meet the culture.
We are a destination specialist for Cape Verde. We plan around the character of each island — its landscape, its pace, its culture — rather than treating the archipelago as a single beach destination reached by a single flight.
Foreword
Cape Verde runs in my veins.
I am Cape Verdean, and I live for this country. For a morna rising one evening in Mindelo and silencing an entire terrace. For the smell of a cachupa that has been simmering since morning. For the silence of the valleys of Santo Antão and the raw power of the volcano on Fogo. For a word that cannot be translated, morabeza: our unique way of welcoming a stranger as one of the family.
My dream is simple: that every traveller leaves Cape Verde with a little of our soul, and the urge to come back.
As a group travel professional, I work every day with travel agencies and tour operators, and I know what you need. I created Atlas & Aura to put that experience at the service of my country: local suppliers chosen one by one, clear terms, and always the truth about seasons and connections.
How we work
Every journey starts from what draws you, not from a catalogue. We ask what you want the days to feel like, then work outward to what current flights and ferries will comfortably support — and we tell you honestly when an idea costs more than it gives.
We build margin into connections rather than assume tight ones. We use local guides and operators we know personally. And we stay reachable while you are travelling, because a schedule that moves is a normal part of island travel, not a failure.
What guides us
Integrity, and a refusal to oversell.
Honest about conditions
Paths close. Ferries are weather-dependent. Pico do Fogo is not climbable every day. We say so before you book, not after.
Honest about history
Cidade Velha is not a scenic stop. It was the first European colonial settlement in the tropics and a hub of the transatlantic slave trade. We work with guides who explain it without euphemism.
Honest about nature
Turtle and whale activity is seasonal, regulated and never guaranteed. We arrange it only with operators who work to the rules, and we promise no sightings.
Local before convenient
Working villages rather than empty scenery, small venues rather than staged performances, and islands given enough time to be understood.
