When to go to Cape Verde with a group
Cape Verde is a year-round destination. The right dates for a group depend on what it is coming for: walking, music, wildlife or the beach.
Walking groups: November to June
The dry season, from November to June, is the most comfortable time to walk on Santo Antão and Fogo, and to tour several islands.
From July to October, short showers turn the mountain islands at their greenest. Walks remain possible, with a programme that keeps some flexibility.
Music and festival groups
The festival calendar is a strong reason to fix dates. These are the main events we build group programmes around:
São Vicente: the biggest in the country.
Praia, Santiago: Creole music from around the world.
São Filipe, Fogo: horse races and drums.
Porto Novo, Santo Antão: processions and street celebrations.
São Vicente: the great music festival on the beach.
Wildlife
Humpback whales pass off Boa Vista from March to May, and turtles nest on Sal and Boa Vista from June to October. Every wildlife experience runs under local regulation and at a proper distance: we do not promise sightings.
Beach stays and extensions
Sal and Boa Vista work all year round. Any tour can finish with three or four nights on the beach, in large beachfront hotels for groups of 15 to 50.
